Home & Decor covers the changes that make a home feel different, not magazine-styled spaces you will never recreate, but real rooms, real budgets, and real results.

From small-entryway organization to decor that survives daily life, these guides focus on projects you can finish in a weekend and ideas that keep working after the photo fades.

What you will find here:

  • Small-space organization and storage solutions
  • Decor principles that work with what you already own
  • Easy home improvement projects for renters and owners
  • Room-by-room guides: entryways, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms
  • Budget-friendly ways to refresh a space without renovating

What makes a small room work?

Scale first, colour second. A small room reads as bigger when the furniture is fewer and larger rather than many small pieces, when the tallest object is not in the middle of a wall, and when curtains hang from near the ceiling instead of from the window frame. All three change how tall and how wide the room feels, and none of them costs much.

Then light and surface. Light walls and one large rug make the floor look continuous instead of chopped into zones. Storage that reaches the ceiling uses height that furniture cannot, and a mirror placed opposite a window moves light into the part of the room that usually stays dim.

How do you tell a real problem from a cosmetic one?

Damp, mould, and condensation are the three that are not cosmetic. They point to ventilation or insulation, and painting over them fails within a season. Peeling paint usually means moisture behind it, not bad paint. A room that is colder than the rest of the house is a draught or a heating balance problem rather than a decor one.

Hairline cracks in plaster are usually settling and can be filled. Cracks that widen, or that run diagonally from a corner, are worth an inspection before anything decorative happens. Fix the cause first, then decorate the wall once.
